How the team is set up
One project, two foremen, one manager
Most building firms our size put one person in charge of everything and hope the finish is as good as the brickwork. We split it deliberately. Every SwiftBrick job has a structure stage and a finishing stage, and each has its own foreman who is responsible for it.
Stage one is Matt's. Groundworks, drainage, foundations, walls, roof structure, steels and openings. This is the work Building Control inspects most closely and the work that is hardest to put right later, so it is run by a bricklayer who does it every day.
Stage two is Simon's. Once the shell is watertight and the structural inspections are passed, the job hands over to a finisher: plastering, second fix, and the standard you will actually live with. A plasterer running the finishing stage means the finish is judged by someone who knows what a good one looks like.
Luke manages both. He is not one of the pair of hands on site; he is the person who writes the scope, prices the job, books the inspections, orders the materials, deals with the client and checks the work at each stage. That is what a Chartered site manager is for, and it is why the phone gets answered.
