Church hall, Gorse Hill
A leak into a church hall in Gorse Hill, traced to failed lead flashing under the clerestory window sills letting water behind the tiles. We stripped the affected slope, renewed the leadwork and relaid the tiles. Diagnosis first, then the repair that actually fixes it.

Roof leaks get patched for years without anyone finding the cause. Here the water was tracking in under the sills of the high-level windows where the lead had lifted and split, then running down behind the tiles. The fix was to strip the slope, renew the flashings properly and relay — not another tube of sealant.
Finding the cause
The slope below the clerestory windows, and the lead under the sills lifted away from the tiles.

Stripped, re-leaded, relaid
Tiles off the affected area, new lead dressed under the sills and over the tiles, the slope relaid.

Fixed at the cause
The slope relaid with new lead under every sill — the cause dealt with rather than the symptom.
