Millais Close, Tadpole Garden Village
Half of an integral garage on a modern North Swindon estate turned into a proper room, with the other half kept as a garage: new front wall and window where part of the garage door was, insulated floor and walls, electrics, then plasterboard, skim and skirting. Handed over ready to decorate.
The job in one look

- Done by
- SwiftBrick’s own team, with Building Control inspecting.
On a newer estate the garage is often the only space left to grow into. Converting half of it keeps somewhere to park the bikes and the lawnmower while gaining a room with a window to the front. The work that matters is hidden: insulation to the floor and walls, and a damp-proof detail at the new front wall where the garage door was.
Before
An ordinary integral garage with a single up-and-over door.

Plastered and skirted
Insulated and lined, new window in, first-fix electrics, then boarded, skimmed and skirted. August 2026.

After
From the street: half the garage door kept, the new wall and window built to match. Inside: a room ready to decorate.

A room to the front, a garage still at the side
A warm, plastered room with a new front window, handed over ready to decorate, with the garage half retained. Building Control inspected the conversion.
